The Symposium will address the following specific issues and their effect on military youth and their families:
- Multiple deployments
- Scope of visible and invisible injuries
- Emotional and physical resiliency of military youth
This will be followed by a call to action and will let you know what you can do to support these military youth and their families.
Using an informal question and answer format, the invited panelists, along with participants from the audience, will address the challenges of multiple deployments, reintegration and visible and invisible injuries. KLRN will produce a one hour version of the Symposium that will be available for DVD distribution as well as rebroadcasting throughout the state with the potential for national exposure. The panel will offer a variety of perspectives: senior military leadership, senior educational leadership, nationally recognized military youth specialists, as well as our military youth.
By educating and informing our communities about the unique challenges confronting military families, specifically challenges related to separation and reintegration resulting from extended and multiple deployments, we hope to bolster resiliency and a sense of community. With many of our troops coming home and still many being deployed, we want kids to know they do not have to shoulder these burdens alone. We are With You All the Way!
Audience seating is free, but limited, so please reserve your spot(s) today by emailing rsvp@comfortcrew.org or calling (512) 337-2739.
